Waste Profile Specialist

 
Position: Waste Profile Specialist
Location: Northern California, San Francisco Bay Area


​​OMS Group, LLC is hiring a Waste Profile Specialist. This is a full-time, temporary position that may be converted to full-time, regular. Some overtime and weekend work may be required. Successful candidates will have 1 to 7 years of hazardous materials and waste profiling experience. Candidates will demonstrate competency in review of laboratory analytical reports to compile and submit accurate waste profile documentation in accordance with state and federal reporting requirements and specific landfill reporting requirements. Familiarity with reporting requirements for Class 1 landfills within the state of California is a requirement and familiarity with reporting requirements for other western states is a plus. Familiarity with RCRA, CERCLA, DTSC, DOT and EPA requirements related to hazardous material waste generator documentation and reporting requirements in relation to transport and disposal is a requirement of this position. Prior experience preparing waste manifests is a plus.

Applicants should have a combination of experience that includes most or all of the following: Waste profile document preparation, waste manifest preparation, chain-of-custody logs, hazardous material classification and reporting, compliance reporting, waste manifest tracking and regulatory filings and annual reporting.  Some interaction with agency representatives may occur.

Essential Functions:
  • Prepare waste profiles and associated paperwork for transport and disposal of waste at landfills, including Class 1 landfills
  • Conduct waste manifest quality assurance and quality control reviews,
  • Conduct gap closure and records reconciliation
  • Data entry and compliance database management
  • Reporting
  • Regulatory filings
  • Some interaction with landfill representatives may be required.

Qualifications:
  • At least 1-year prior experience and demonstrable proficiency conducting waste profiling, hazardous materials classification, and compliance activities
  • Driver’s license
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Competence with laptops, tablets, smartphones, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to resolve problems and to work with stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to pass a preemployment background check and drug screening
  • Ability to work remotely or at client site as work requires
  • Ability to work overtime and occasionally to work weekends

Preferred:
  • 4-year degree in chemistry, geology, engineering, biology, natural resources, or related field

Working Conditions:

Environmental Factors: Indoor and outdoor conditions; exposure to heat, cold, potentially hazardous chemicals, toxic materials; work on/walk on slippery or uneven and potentially mountainous terrain. Noise level is usually moderate on field project sites.

The employee frequently is required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, stand, walk for extended periods of time, walk long distances, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to perform tasks during a typical 8+ hour workday. Ability to sit for extended periods of time, including for required travel.

Pay Range:
$24.00 to $38.00 / hour

The pay range for this position is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Actual pay will be based upon a range of factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, level of responsibility, skills, abilities and overall alignment with market data for similar functions.
